Hashtags have become such an integral part of our social media conversations. Twitter dominated that use of Hashtags, which was then followed by social networks like Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and so on. Finally, Facebook decided to fill in this link, by unveiling hashtags onto their platform.
Up until now, there was no way to track the larger conversation happening on Facebook, and now with hashtags, people can actually track conversations of trending topics and brands. Brand owners can finally see what people are talking about them on other profiles with the use of hashtags.
When you click on a hashtag in Facebook, you’ll see a feed of what other people and Pages are saying about that event or topic.
For the time being, it seems like the hashtag only works for the web, however, we are sure to have a roll out on mobile platforms as well.
As for brands and agencies, hashtag would really help track conversations better!
